California’s 12th Congressional District exists on stolen Ohlone Land. Today, it encompasses most of the city of San Francisco and Treasure Island, with 780,000 constituents. We are one of the youngest and most diverse districts in the country, and each neighborhood adds its unique history, culture, and characteristic to the kaleidoscope of our city.
Notably, 73% of the district’s population is younger than 55 years of age, and nearly one third is foreign born. The entrepreneurial spirit to confront unknown challenges, to question the status quo and innovation and creativity have been drivers of the evolution of the district.
Our neighborhoods include: Seacliff, Presidio, Marina, Russian Hill, North Beach, Inner and Outer Richmond, Presidio Heights, Pacific Heights, Nob Hill, Tenderloin, Financial District, Chinatown, Western Addition, Downtown/Civic Center, Japantown, Golden Gate Park, Haight Ashbury, South of Market, Inner and Outer Sunset, Castro/Upper Market, Mission, Outer Mission, Potrero Hill, Parkside, Twin Peaks, West of Twin Peaks, Diamond Heights, Noe Valley, Glen Park, Bernal Heights, Lakeshore, Ocean View, Excelsior, Treasure Island, Crocker Amazon, Visitacion Valley, and Hunter’s Point/Bayview.
